Zelma Louise Lucas

Zelma was born October 19, 1940, in Visalia, California, to the late Robert Elvin and Alma Arnold Gates.  She passed away at her home in Springfield, Louisiana, May 20, 2021, at age 80.

She retired from Hi Ho Barbeque in Hammond after 23 years of service.

Zelma is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bill Lucas; children, Billy Lucas, Jr., and Vickie Smiley (Larry); sister, Linda Cooper, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her daughter in law, Patsy Lucas; sister, Mary Gates; and brother, Robert Gates.

Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 North Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana, Sunday, May 23, 2021, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm conducted by Reverend Terry Lobell.  Interment will follow services in Rose Memorial Park, Hammond.
