Willie Mae Newman

Willie Mae Newman, resident of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the age of 94. She was born on December 7, 1926, in Bear Island, Louisiana.

She is survived by her daughters, Pamela N. (David) Dragg and Cheryl (John) Laiche; grandchildren, Alan (Jessica) Laiche, John (Jenna) Travis, Heather D (Kirk) Gagliano; great-grandchildren, Katherine, Oliver, Charlotte, and Emmalyn Laiche, and Jace Gagliano.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Newman; father, Joseph Bencaze; mother, Celestine Hudson; stepfather, John Hudson; sister, Hazel Bencaze; and brother, Robert Hudson.

Graveside services were previously held at Ponchatoula Cemetery.
