William H. "Billy" Brown

William H. “Billy” Brown, of Hammond, LA, passed away at his home peacefully, with his family, Monday, September 28, 2026, at the age of 90. He was born April 15, 1936, in Hammond, the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Brown and Vera Quave Brown. Billy was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. For many years Billy was the owner of Woody’s Grocery in Hammond. He enjoyed working with and meeting the public. He also served in the U.S. Army for several years. Billy spent much time in the Lord’s work at Woodland Park Baptist Church where he was a member for over 74 years. He served the church in many different capacities. He was Chairman of Deacons, a deacon and Church Treasurer. He held the position of Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher. He was the Brotherhood President and Chairman of the Building Committee and served on several Pulpit Committees. Billy is survived by his loving wife, Geneva Maxine Brown. They were married for 66 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Debra Brown Terral (Tim), and Donna Brown Abadie (Louie); granddaughters, Alayna Chamel Williamson (Mason), and Ashley Ann Chemel (Cody); great grandchildren, Bayleigh Ann Owens, Everleigh Jean Owens and Mark Matthew Williamson; sister, Peggy Brown Kitchens; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Brown, and Jane Temple; and numerous nephews and nieces. Billy is preceded in death by his brother, Richard E. Brown. Visitation will be held at Woodland Park Baptist Church, Friday, October 2, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Parklawn Cemetery.
