William Joseph “Joey” Everett passed away in the company of family at home on Friday, June 19, 2026. He will be remembered as an absolutely amazing father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was 83 years old. He was born October 5, 1942. in Corinth, MS.
He is survived by his three sons, William “Billy” Everett, Jr. (Renee) & Dennis Everett (Mae), of Ponchatoula, and Chad Everett (Katrina) of Hohenwald, TN. 6 grandchildren, Daniel, Toby, Alexis, Dayton, Skylar, and Wesley, and 2 great-grandchildren, Elian and Porter; Brother-in-law, Lloyd Chustz of Baker, Sisters-in-law Betty Daigle (Ernie), and Paula Farlow (Virgil Jenkins) of Ponchatoula. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda Everett; daughters Jo Lynn and Debra Lynn Everett, and a granddaughter Amanda Renee Everett; his father, John Everett, Sr., and mother, Lillie Gant Everett; sisters, Johnnie Marie Woodford and Barbara Ann Chustz; brothers John Wesley Everett, Jr, Charles Larry Everett, and Kenneth Frank Everett, Sr.
Joey began his working career in the United States Air Force, later working as a welder and a skilled carpenter, before ultimately answering the call to serve his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Joey spent the last 40+ years of his life sharing the Gospel to anyone who would listen. He faithfully served as pastor to 3 congregations; Bethel Church of God in Ponchatoula, LA, Frazier Grove church of God in Bailey, MS, and Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Osyka, MS. He also served as an intermittent minister at The Chapel at Percy Quinn State Park. He loved the Lord and called on him as long as he had breath to do so.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He adored his grandchildren and great -grandchildren. He loved to entertain them with stories or lawnmower rides. He enjoyed walks in nature and admiring God’s beautiful creations.
He was full of energy and love, and always took great care in whatever endeavor he was presently involved with, from tinkering to cooking to playing and singing with children at church or with his family. He was never still for too long. He will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia Street. in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, 70454, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m.
