William Andrew €œAndy” Hupperich

William Andrew “Andy” Hupperich passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2019 in Hammond, Louisiana at the age of 73. Andy was born in Amite, Louisiana on August 7, 1946 to Herman and Louise Bell Hupperich. As the son of a lieutenant colonel, he spent much of his childhood and adolescence traveling the country and the world on military assignment, even living for a time in Japan. He married Christine Stuyck on August 17, 1968, with whom he recently celebrated his 51st wedding anniversary. Andy graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University, and shortly thereafter, joined the military. Like his father, Andy served his country as an officer in the United States Air Force, including a tour in the Vietnam War. After the military, he pursued a professional career as a computer analyst and software consultant. Andy was an avid car enthusiast and was at his happiest sharing his passion, one he passed on to his two sons. He owned a 1961 Corvette, which Christine gifted to him upon his return from Vietnam, and he spent many years restoring it to its original glory. In the last several years, Andy purchased a 1965 Corvette to add to his collection. He frequented classic car shows and was always working toward his next auto project. Andy was also a dog lover, and the family was never without a canine member. Most recently, his favorite garage companion was Joe Buck, a Miniature Schnauzer. Andy was proceeded in death by his parents, Herman and Louise Bell Hupperich and his sister, Billie Hupperich Cleghorn.  He is survived by his wife, Christine Stuyck Hupperich, his twin sons, Lee (Julie) and Scott (Nancy) both of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and four grandchildren, Benjamin, Olivia, Matthew, and Madeline Hupperich. A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tangi Humane Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping animals.
