Wayne Thomas Burt

Wayne Thomas Burt passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at his residence in Hammond, Louisiana at the age of 76.

He was born on Tuesday, June 8, 1948, in Hammond, Louisiana to the late Audrey Pavitt Burt and the late Thomas (Buster) Burt, Jr.

Wayne graduated from St. Paul’s School in Covington in 1967. He attended LSU and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1973.

He was the third-generation owner and operator of T. H. Burt and Sons in Hammond.

Wayne loved family, friends and his cats, Annie, Socks and Honey. He loved telling stories and having fun and will be remembered for his wit and generosity.

Wayne treasured Marilyn more than anything in his life. He was a collector of many things. He loved life, music, motorcycles, fast cars, boats, dance and traveling. He enjoyed having fun and wanted everyone else to have fun too. He loved his hometown of Hammond and his many friends and associates. No one remained a stranger for long with Wayne.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marilyn Semira-Burt; sisters, Colleen Burt and Karen Burt-Coker, brother-in law and sister-in-law, Antione “A.J.” and Debbie Semira; nephew, Craig Davidge; nieces, Genie Tisdale, Regan Mizel, Britton M. Vallee and her husband Jeff, Brennan Coker, 9 great-nieces and nephews and 3 great-great nieces.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at a later date.

A good friend to many and one of a kind for sure.
