Walter Travis Whiddon, Jr.

Walter Travis Whiddon, Jr., was born July 6, 1956, in Independence, LA, and passed away January 26, 2024, in Baton Rouge, LA at age 67. He was a lifelong resident of Independence and the owner of the Korner Stop in Independence.  Walter is survived by his mother, Bessie Lamonica; numerous cousins including Anna Mizell, Johnny Mizell, Bridgette and Jason Munch, Kim and Ray Morrison, Sean Morrison, Marie Vicknair, Paul Lamonica, Johnny and Lota Lamonica, and Joann Oliver; and many friends including Ashely Whiddon and Michelle Grice.  He is preceded in death by his father, Walter Travis Whiddon, Sr.; paternal grandparents Ben and Flora Whiddon, and maternal grandparents, Paul and Mary Lamonica; and numerous cousins.  Visitation will be Tuesday, January 30 2024, at Light House Baptist Church, Independence after 12:00 noon until religious services at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Gene Hoyt, Jr. and Rev. Carlin Sanders.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
