Vivian Yvonne Carruth Pecoraro

Vivian Yvonne Carruth Pecoraro, of Tickfaw, Louisiana, passed away at her home with her loving family by her side on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the age of 89. She was born on November 2, 1932, in Greensburg, Louisiana. Yvonne's love of family was her most treasured possession. She believed in the meaning of family and in keeping the family together by having Red Gravy Sundays. This tradition has continued almost every Sunday with the last of the remaining family. You could pass her home at almost any time of day and find her in her gardens. With her love for flowers and her love for every one of the holidays, she made sure her yard demonstrated her passion. If there was a pinecone or a blade of straw showing, it was removed within the hour.

Yvonne spent over 40 years at First Guaranty Bank as a senior officer. With her love of banking, she opened branches and oversaw the daily operations with the traditions of old-time banking by knowing her customers, most of whom were her friends. Yvonne's spirit of giving was how she lived her life, belonging to countless charitable organizations including Catholic Charities and many other nonprofit organizations.

Yvonne was happily married to the love of her life, Sam Pecoraro, for over 72 years. She met him at the age of 16 on a hayride while passing through Independence. With his handsome Italian charm and looks, there was no way he was getting away from her. Sam passed away recently and as they say, when one dies after so many years together, the other one goes, but they take all the love with them.

Yvonne will be remembered as one of the last Southern belles for her most gracious Southern charm, as her loving husband would describe her. She was elegant and set the standard for grace and kindness with a touch of indignation from time to time. She never left the house without matching clothes, purse, shoes, jewelry, makeup and lipstick, and always wore Estee Lauder perfume and even wore nighttime makeup. Yvonne modeled how women should always look their best and never to go to bed with one dirty dish in the sink, ever!

Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Cathy Pecoraro Grace, son, John V. Pecoraro, grandsons, Brad Grace and wife Brandi and Bryan Grace, 6 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Sam J. Pecoraro, father, William Dale Elton Carruth, mother, Josephine Callihan Carruth Brown, stepfather, Julius Brown, grandson, Brock Grace, brothers, William Dale Carruth, Jr. and Kenneth Wayne Brown.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Smitty Smith and his staff, as well as Yvonne's best friends, Vera Garafola and Sr. Joel Gubler.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Sunday, April 17, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
