Vincent Anthony Calcagno, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at North Oaks Medical Center at the age of 73. He was born on September 23, 1952 in Independence, Louisiana to the late Tony and Josie Calcagno. Vince was a kind, patient, and loving man whose life was centered on faith, family, and friendship. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He adored his beloved wife, Marilyn Viola Calcagno, and cherished his family above all else. Vincent was a devoted father to Vincent Anthony Calcagno, Jr. (wife Christy) and Vanessa Tallo (husband Ronnie). His greatest joy was being a grandfather to Brady Tallo, Seth Tallo, Tori Gillies, and Brayden Gillies, whom he loved with all his heart.
A devout Catholic, Vincent lived his faith through compassion, patience, and loyalty. He was a devoted friend to many, including his close friends, April and Mike Bentivegna, and leaves behind countless memories of kindness and generosity.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Joyce Paille (husband Robert), his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cheryl and Johnnie Santangelo, Russell and Darlene Viola, Karen and Scott Forrest, and Julia and Glen DePhillips. Vincent also held a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Josie Calcagno; his in-laws, Russell and Jackie Viola; his brother-in-law, Jerry Viola; his nephew, Chris Paille; and his nephew, Johnnie Charles Santangelo III ("Lil Man"), who was forever loved and remembered.
Vincent's legacy is one of unwavering love, deep faith, and quiet strength. His kindness and devotion will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Family and friends are invited to attend his services on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A funeral mass will be at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Father Reuben with entombment to follow in Colonial Cemetery Mausoleum.
