Victor Gordon Anderson Jr.

A lifetime native of Hammond, Victor Gordon Anderson, Jr., age 78, passed away on the morning of September 29, 2023, at North Oaks Medical Center. Gordon was born on Monday, April 16, 1945.
He enjoyed a good life of service to his community, meeting every person with a genuine smile and a hardy handshake. To know Gordon was to have a lifelong friend who remained ready to assist at a moment’s notice. The driving force in Gordon’s life was his family.

Gordon succeeded his father Vic Anderson who retired in 1975 as the Seventh Ward Marshal after first being elected in 1942. Gordon was re-elected and served for seven consecutive six-year terms until he retired in 2014.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Eloise Goudeau Anderson, three daughters, Ora Lynn Anderson Smith, Sarah Anderson and her fiancé Britt Bauers, and Jane Anderson, six grandchildren, James Rogers, Rebecca and Ryan Smith, Ellie and Walker Torrance, and Anderson Martin, sister, Vicky Anderson, brother, Tom Anderson and wife Donna Gay as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Gordon Anderson and Edna Blanche White Anderson, sister, Winnifred “Doots” Reno (Jack), daughter, Scarlett Anderson, and granddaughter, Katherine Louise Forrest. 

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 8:00 am until 11:00 am. 
A Funeral Service will be held at Funeral Home Chapel - Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd., Hammond, Louisiana on Monday at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow at Holly Gardens Cemetery.
