Verdie Mae Guitreau Picou Comeaux

Verdie Mae Guitreau Picou Comeaux, of Maurepas, Louisiana, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at the age of 89. She was born on August 27, 1933, in Livingston, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Theophile and Loney Berthelot Guitreau. Verdie was a successful business owner for over 30 years. After retiring she enjoyed traveling with her late husband and her lady friends. Verdie loved spending time with her family, working crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy.

Verdie is survived by her children, Danny Picou (Sheilla), Donna Picou Stewart (Terry), Belinda Picou Chauvin (David), and Penny Picou Lalejini (David); brother, Roland Guitreau (Ann); stepson, Burton "Joe" Comeaux, Jr.; grandchildren, Amanda Picou, Charlie Picou, Jodi Fekete (Randy), Deandra Lennier (Jonathan), Cassie Jackson (Darrell), Terry "TJ" Stewart, Jr., Joseph Loupe, Kayla Wilkinson (Derek), Alex Lalejini (Alexa), and Adam Lalejini; step-grandchildren, Jacquelyn Strong (Michael), Jacqueline Culler, Richard "Ricky" Bell, Jr., Dathan Chauvin (Amelia), and Deena Chauvin; 8 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Verdie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 13 years, Burton Comeaux, Sr.; brothers, Rayborn and Clyde Dale Guitreau; and step-grandson, Nicholas Comeaux.

Family and friends will be received at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 22494 Highway 22, Maurepas, Louisiana 70449 on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church, on Wednesday at 12:00 pm, with Fr. Jason Palermo officiating.

Entombment will follow at Whitehall Cemetery in Maurepas, Louisiana.
