Trudy Salassi Blackwell passed away September 24, 2024. She was born August 24, 1952, in French Settlement. Trudy lived much of her life in Albany, where she was known as Miss. Trudy. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Holden. In her final hours she spoke of getting people to go to church services and their need for salvation; she supported the work of God with a quiet, steady strengthen.
Trudy worked as a nurse for many years, having obtained her license in the 1980s’. She loved her grandchildren deeply and was Miss Trudy to many children in her daycare where she spent her time singing and telling them about Jesus. Whether by choice or necessity, she learned how to operate heavy equipment (dump truck, excavator, bulldozer, and most of Delos’ toys). She wasn’t afraid of yard work, but also enjoyed sewing and oil painting.
Quiet and reserved as she was, her strength and support of others will be missed and not forgotten. Her life on this earth has ended; she has gained her eternal reward.
She is survived by her husband, Delos M Blackwell; son, Rick (Julie) Blackwell; daughter, Jennifer (David) Rogers; grandchildren, Landon Blackwell, Logan Blackwell, Gracie Lout, Abigail Lout, and Zach Rogers; sisters, Ellie (Don) Amedee and Jeanette Wells.
Preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy and Elizabeth Ujvari Salassi; sisters, Virginia (Jennie) Owens and Faye Beth Salassi; nephew, Scott Wells.
The family wishes to express special thanks for those who gave to Trudy the utmost care. Special gratitude is extended to Ms. Donna Mixon for her tender care and constant attention to Trudy’s wishes.
