Tony Joseph DiBenedetto

Tony Joseph DiBenedetto passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at his home in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 84.  He was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond, Louisiana.  Tony was born on Wednesday, August 16, 1939 in Tickfaw, Louisiana to the late Sarah Giaratano DiBenedetto and the late Anthony DiBenedetto.  He was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.  After graduating from Independence High School in 1957, Tony served in the United States Navy receiving an honorary discharge.  After spending countless years working in the oil industry, Tony retired from Texaco Oil Company and later again from BP. Tony was a lover of his family and life and enjoyed hosting a good party.  He was very involved in fundraising for the athletic programs at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School, including the baseball team. In 1992, Tony won the Mother Seton Award from St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School for his fundraising dedication to the school's baseball program. 
  
Tony is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Brenda Loper DiBenedetto; daughter, Crystal DiBenedetto Burkhalter and her husband, Andrew Burkhalter of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; son, Michael Tony DiBenedetto and his wife, Wendy DiBenedetto, of Cypress, Texas; granddaughters, Catherine Camille Burkhalter, Caroline Louise Burkhalter, and Hannah Grace DiBenedetto; grandson, Thomas Harrison DiBenedetto; and brother, Frank DiBenedetto, Sr., and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. 
  
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brothers, Leon DiBenedetto, Peter DiBenedetto, Joseph DiBenedetto, Phillip DiBenedetto, Sr.; and sisters, Petress DiBenedetto, Corinne DiBenedetto Nuccio, and Rose DiBenedetto Nuccio. 
 
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond, 600 N Oak Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70401.

Interment will follow at the Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum in Tickfaw, Louisiana. 

Honorary pallbearers will be nephews Anthony DiBenedetto (Amite), Anthony DiBenedetto (Tickfaw), Phil DiBenedetto (Baton Rouge), Phil DiBenedetto (Tickfaw), Craig Loper, and Russell Loper.
 
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Tony's name to St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Hammond, Louisiana.
