Tommy Dale Dorsey, Sr., 74, passed away on July 14, 2024, in New Orleans, LA, after bravely battling illnesses. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who brought joy and good cheer to all who knew him.

Tommy is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Louise Bernard Dorsey; his five children, Tommy D. Dorsey, Jr. “Tommy 2” (Janice) of Laurel, MS, Christopher "Chris" Dorsey (Marlo) of Hattiesburg, MS, William "Willie" Dorsey (Jaime) of Springfield, LA, Margaret "Maggie" Carlin (Cory) of Denham Springs, LA, and Katherine "Katie" Richoux (Billy) of Ponchatoula, LA; 20 grandchildren: Robert, Sarah, Brendan, Karla, Cammie, Maddy, Abigayle, Peyton, Carson, Allie, Kaylie, Kelsie, Warren, Dolfin, Cordelia, Serenity, Gwendolyn, Josaphina, Gabriel, and Brodie, two great-grandchildren, Maisie and Harrison, and two great grandchildren on the way, as well as numerous extended family members that he greatly adored.

Born on March 5, 1950, in Mississippi, Tommy always enjoyed the outdoors and adventures in his youth, later moving with his family to New Iberia, Louisiana. Tommy is a 1968 graduate of New Iberia High School, where he first met his loving wife, Louise, during their high school years. He was an alumnus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, spending more than 20 years in the geoseismic field and as a successful salesman across various industries. Always prioritizing quality time with his family, he was also affectionately known as a real-life Santa Claus. Tommy spent countless hours at community charity events and church gatherings, joyfully listening to the holiday wishes and stories of young area children.

A man of deep faith, Tommy loved the Lord and always made time to honor Him. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Iva Mae Dorsey Mooney, and fathers Cephus Pearl "C.P." Dorsey and Howard Mooney.

A passionate genealogy enthusiast, Tommy loved researching his family history and sharing stories of his ancestors. Known for his storytelling, he had a particular love for fishing and could often be heard sharing memories in vivid detail. Tommy found great delight in being on the water and cherished the time he spent cooking, baking, and grilling. His pecan pies at Thanksgiving and country ribs at family barbecues were always a hit.
