Thomas Wayne Coplin

Thomas Wayne Coplin of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, son of the late Norma Smith Coplin and Thomas J. Coplin,  passed away peacefully at his home with his family on Saturday, March 23, 2019. He was born on Tuesday, January 21, 1947, in Galesburg, Illinois. He married Beverly P. Coplin on August 16, 1968, and they had two children, Angela Coplin Bourgeois and Thomas Bryan Coplin. Both reside in the Hammond/Ponchatoula area with their family.

Tom was a graduate of Bridge City High School in Bridge City, Texas and Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He was employed by Union Carbide in 1967 and retired in 1999. He had a fulfilling career working in many departments and levels of management. Tom was a member of Masonic Lodge "Pine Grove" #288 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, and Past Master of St. Charles Masonic Lodge #445 in Paradis, Louisiana. He was also a Scottish Rite 32 Degree Mason. He was a member of Eagle Heights Community Church where he was involved in a variety of ministries. He loved his church and took opportunities to serve his Lord! Tom loved sports, antique/classic vehicles, fishing and other outdoor activities.

Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly P. Coplin; daughter, Angela Coplin Bourgeois and her husband Chad; son, Thomas Bryan Coplin; 6 grandchildren, Derrick Stafford, Heather Stafford, Tyler Stafford, Thomas Lane Coplin, Brianna Coplin, Reese Mathews; 1 great-grandchild, Lincoln Stafford; and sister, Denise Beck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. and Norma Smith Coplin.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, 100 West Magnolia St, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454. Visitation will continue on Thursday, March 28 from 9:00 am until the Funeral Service begins at 11:00 am at Eagle Heights Church, 47318 Rufus Bankston Rd, Tickfaw, LA 70466.

Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Garden, Hammond, Louisiana
