Thomas Lester Browning

Thomas Lester Browning, of Husser, Louisiana, passed away at North Oaks Medical Center on Monday, January 3, 2022, at the age of 82. He was born on December 25, 1939, in Lexington, Kentucky, the son of the late Thomas Lee Browning and Virginia Etherington Browning. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Thomas had a passion for living and a thirst for adventure. There was very little he did not try at least once including sailing, dirt biking, wind surfing, bicycling, carpentry, horseback riding, Jeeping, Harley riding, Tai Chi, and  target practice just to name a few of his interests. Thomas loved his family and was very active in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and took his grandchildren on unforgettable summer trips that are now legend. Thomas was a founding and very active member of the Bayou Bounty Hunters, a Cowboy Action Shooting Club. He built many of their shooting stages, made his own bullets, and always looked forward to their gatherings and annual banquet. Thomas was a remarkable and dynamic man who will always be remembered.

Thomas is survived by his son, Thomas Browning, Sr. and wife Marygayle; daughter, Tammy Browning Banker and husband Rick; stepdaughter, RoseAnn Strate; grandchildren, Thomas Dale Browning, Jr., Heather Browning Garland and husband Rodney, Kendall Banker Ingram and husband Andrew, and Austin Wade Banker; step grandchildren, Charles Louis Strate, III and William Strate and wife Robbyn; great grandchildren, Kirra and Andi Ingram; step great grandchildren, Davy Holyfield, Dakota Holyfield, Vincent Strate and Rory Strate; sisters, Carol Browning Bragg and husband Dan and Jean Browning Clemons-Baines and husband Roger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his companion of more than thirty years, Amelia Louise Alfonso, step son-in-law, Charles Louis Strate, Jr., and step granddaughter, Samantha Ann Strate.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

A Funeral Service will begin on Friday at 11:00 am, with Rev. Leon Dunn officiating.

Interment will follow at Martin Family Cemetery in Natalbany, Louisiana.
