Tammy Theresa Davis Scafidel joined her husband in Heaven on Sunday, March 31, 2024, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 62. She was born on Tuesday, February 25, 1962, in Amite, Louisiana. She spent her childhood years in Loranger where she was raised by her parents the late Royce Davis and the late Norma Neal Davis. She was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.
Tammy’s passion was nursing, and she earned her License of Practical Nursing from the Hammond Area Vocational School in 1983. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Southeastern Louisiana University in 1989. She spent her 40 Year career serving the people of Hammond at North Oaks Medical Center, but her care and love for people extended far beyond the walls of a hospital. When she wasn’t working. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her Grandson who absolutely adored his “Maw Maw Tanny.”
Tammy had many amazing qualities, but her hospitality was the most notable. She never met a stranger and was sure to always cook enough food for anyone who showed up. She opened her home and heart to everyone, even the countless animals she cared for over the years. She was a bright light to everyone she met and never let you leave without telling you to “Be Sweet.”
Tammy is survived by her children, Lacey Russell (Zack), Krista Neal (Ryan), Kyle Scafidel (Betsy), and Logan Scafidel (Emma); grandchild, Riggins Russell; siblings, Troy Davis (Donna), Mike Davis (Donna), and Roy Daniel Davis (Amanda); her uncle Simpson “Bo” Neal Jr. (Ann); and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Donald Scafidel; and brother, Jeff Davis (Susan).
Tammy will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, and generous person who made a difference in the lives of everyone she met. Her legacy of love and service will live on through her family, friends, and the countless patients whose lives she touched during her career.
