Sybil Ruth Scafidel

Sybil Ruth Scafidel, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born on Friday, June 28, 1935, in Robert, Louisiana.

Sybil attended Robert Church of God where she was a member. She graduated from beauty school, received her license and loved to do hair. She also became a licensed florist and owned her own flower shop. When the shop eventually closed Sybil decided she would paint and became an accomplished artist.

Sybil is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, JoAnn Lay and James Lea, grandchildren, Jimmie Smith (Melissa), Amy Henderson (Wayne), Benjamin Young (Rachel), Billy Scafidel, and Sarah Scafidel, great-grandchildren, Ann Marie Smith, Johnny Smith, Emily Henderson, Benny Young, Joey Young, Stephanie Young, Talia Scafidel, and Jade Scafidel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edd Scafidel, Sr., son, Edd Scafidel, Jr., daughter, Crystal Suzanne Leggitt, parents, Eddie Eugene Bardwell and Nancy Morse Bardwell; sisters, Blanche Bardwell, Georgina Goldate and Opal Jenkins, brothers, Kirby, Earl, Willard, C.B., Jerry, Huey and Merlin Bardwell.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 9:00 am until 10:00 am.

A Funeral Service will be held in Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday at 10:00 am.

Interment will follow at Cooper Cemetery in Robert, Louisiana.
