Suzette Marie Lange

Suzette Marie Lange peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 57. She was born on Monday, August 14, 1967, in Covington, Louisiana to Margaret Blackburn and the late Robert Hammit. She was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.

Suzette was a radiant soul, full of life and boundless energy, with a bubbly spirit that could light up any room. She never met a stranger, embracing everyone with an open heart. Suzette was a woman of deep faith, she remained devoted to her beliefs, finding strength and purpose in her spirituality. Suzette’s talents extended beyond her kindness; she was a gifted actress, gracing the screen in over 45 films. More than anything, she was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, whose love knew no bounds. A true friend to many, she touched countless lives with her generosity and joy. Suzette’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Suzette is survived by her husband of 25 years, Leonard Dominic Lange; daughters, Brittney Blackburn (Derek Cohn), Chelsey Cummings (Reginald Moore), and Kailyn Ellis (Blake Willson); son, Dominic Lange; mother, Margaret Blackburn; grandchildren, Jaiyla Pines, Tarais and Tyler Autmon, Camry Glover, Ariana, Adrian Jr., and Cataleya Magee; honorary daughter, Brianetta Chester; stepmom, Patricia Hammitt Green; as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hammit; sisters, Ivra Amacker and Clara Strickland; and brother, Jerome Blackburn.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Greater Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 1005 LaVanner Brown Drive, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, with funeral service following at 10:00 am. Pastor Samuel Brown will officiate the services with interment to follow in Holly Gardens Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Jehokiam Jones, Dominic Lange, Drew Lange, Reginald Moore, Robert Hammit, Demetrius Hammit, Jeremy Campbell, and Derek Cohn.

Interment will follow at Holly Gardens Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.
