Susan Thames Tucker, born on September 19, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away surrounded by family on October 11, 2025. A lifelong resident of Hammond, Louisiana, Susan graduated high school from Southeastern Lab School and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Southeastern Louisiana University. Susan worked as a social worker for the State of Louisiana and retired after 33 years.
Susan was a devoted member of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church for over 70 years and faithful member of the St. Margaret’s Guild since 1987 as well as serving as Sunday School teacher for numerous years. Her faith in God and devotion to her church was exemplary and everlasting.
Susan cared for everyone around her, always prioritizing others’ needs before her own. She cherished her family and especially loved her precious grandchildren, enjoying attending all of their activities and events. She also faithfully supported St. Jude Children’s Research and Grace Memorial Episcopal Church.
Susan is survived by her husband, Glenn Tucker; children Chris Tucker (Maria), Tim Tucker, Allison Tucker Wetzel (Shad); grandchildren, Nicolas Tucker, Benjamin Tucker, David Tucker, Sadie Leigh Wetzel, and Sawyer Tucker Wetzel; brother, James Allen Thames, Jr. (Debbie); cousin Marilyn Richmond (Bill); as well as many other beloved family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Allen Thames Sr. and Mary Harriet Blomeyer Thames; sister, Harriet Thames Trenchard; uncles Dr. Deloach Thames (Bobbye) and Louis Thames (Lillian); and great aunt, Harriet “Hattie” Neelis Thames.
Family and friends will be received at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, 100 West Church Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 9:00 am until the Funeral Service begins at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church Cemetery. Immediately following the burial, friends and family are invited for refreshments in the Grace Memorial Parish Hall.
