Susan Kay Suarez

Susan Kay Suarez passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 75.  She was born on Thursday, April 22, 1948 in Pembrook, New York to the late Richard and Lorraine Nachtrieb.  She was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana. Susan was loving and caring to her family and others. She was a fantastic seamstress, quilter, jewelry and loved to make arts and crafts. Susan later made rosaries to give to others, strangers, friends and family members. She loved to cook and was a great sous-chef. Susan loved to decorate, always making her home warm and inviting. She made friends with everyone and loved to learn about them, she was always sympathetic of their problems and issues. With her big heart, Susan could never say no to rescuing a stray animal in need. 

Susan is survived by her husband, Bonadelvert Cortez Suarez; and children, Brian Richard Suarez, Kenneth Allen Engler, and Eric R. Smith

She was preceded in death by her son, LCpl Bon (BeeJay) Philip Suarez; parents,  Richard and Lorraine Nachtrieb; as well as her brother, Gary Nachtrieb.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 600 North Oak Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 8:00 am - 11:00 am., until Mass begins at 11:00 am.

Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Pompeii in Tickfaw, Louisiana.
