Stephanie Jean Compton

Stephanie was born June 30, 1945, in Columbus, OH, to the late John William and Helen Fiser Compton.  She passed away June 2, 2021, in Hammond, LA, at the age of 75.  Stephanie obtained a B.S. degree from Western Michigan University and a Master’s degree from the University of New Orleans.  She taught autistic children in the New Orleans public schools for many years. Following Hurricane Katrina, she relocated from New Orleans to Hammond. Stephanie loved animals, especially cats, nature, swimming, playing the guitar, playing Santa Claus at Christmas time,  making jewelry, visiting the beach and vacationing in New York City.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Compton.  A visitation will be held Friday, June 18, 2021, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd., Hammond, from 9:00 am until religious services at 10:00 am conducted by Deacon Mike Agnello.  Entombment will follow in the columbarium at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church Cemetery.
