Stacey Renee Ballard, 58, of Hammond, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Stacey was born May 28, 1966 in Hammond, LA. She was the daughter of Linda Holmes Wagner of Albany and the late Jack Harrison of Loranger.
After graduating from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Stacey began a successful career working in the New Orleans area for many years. She furthered her career goals by earning her CPA license.
Stacey and her late husband enjoyed traveling and saltwater fishing. They were also Detroit Red Wings hockey fans and liked to attend as many games as possible. Earlier in her life, Stacey was very athletic, playing basketball and softball. She loved her family dearly and loved to spend time with her great-niece and great-nephew. Ella Kate and Kullen always put a smile on her face. Stacey knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and knew He was with her through her battle with cancer. She was loved very much and will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by her mother, Linda Holmes Wagner; step-mother, Phyllis Harrison; sisters, Jacquelyn and Shannon (David); brother, Brandon (Hope); brother-in-law, Joe Saragusa; nieces Kristen (Joe), Lauren (Kaleb), and Keli Giaratano (Brian); nephew, Noah (arriving June 2025); great-nieces Caroline, Ella Kate, and Kori; great-nephew, Kullen; and numerous cousins and extended family.
Stacey is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Ballard, MD; father, Jack Harrison; step-father, William “Bud” Wagner; maternal grandparents, Clifton and Elaine King; paternal grandparents, Frank and Dolly Harrison; step-sister, Carolyn Saragusa; and nephew, Corey Saragusa.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Harry McKneely Funeral Home in Hammond, Louisiana from 9:00 am until the funeral service begins at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Old Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Independence, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Richard Murphy Hospice House, 1109 S. Chestnut St, Hammond, Louisiana 70403.
