Sophie Rogers Hembree

Sophie Rogers Hembree has gone home to be with her daughters on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 88. She was born on Sunday, September 30, 1928, in Mathews, Louisiana to the late Therese LaRose Rogers and Oliver Lionel Rogers Sr. and was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

Sophie is survived by her son-in-law, William "Bill" Hagen.  Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, and 3 step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otho Elmer Brown; 2 daughters, Lemmie Jean McManus and Linda B. Hagen; parents, Oliver L., Sr. and Therese LaRose Rogers; 4 brothers, Van Rogers, C.J. Rogers, Oliver Lionel Rogers, Jr., and Irving Rogers; and 4 sisters, Aline Naquin, Marie Louise "Earline" Traina, Ruby Discon and Adeline Plaisance.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service in the chapel of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until service time.
