Sidney Martin Ourso

Sidney Ourso passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Albany, LA at the age of 86. He was born on January 22, 1938, in Ponchatoula, LA to the late Nedas and Hilda Ourso. He was a resident of Albany, LA and was a retired systems analyst with Albemarle Corporation formerly Ethyl Corporation in Baton Rouge, LA. Sidney proudly served his country in the United States Army. During Sidney’s life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, travel, history, and fall weekends watching LSU and New Orleans Saints football games. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Margaret and St. Thomas Catholic Churches. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nedas and Hilda Ourso; brothers – Russell Ourso, Vincent (V.J.) Ourso, Ernest Ourso, Freddie Ourso, and Jimmy Ourso. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Julia Ourso. He is also survived by his children, Cynthia Brasseux (John), Darlene Ernst (Mark), Wade Ourso, Melissa Grand (Brad), and Deborah Daniels (Thomas). His grandchildren, Sophia Brasseux Miller (Michael), Charlotte Brasseux Divers (Buddy), Leslie Ernst, Mark Ernst, Jr. (Leeanne), Jennifer Ernst Imbraguglio (Patrick), Nicholas Ernst, Bianca Ourso, Gianna Ourso, William Grand, Andrew Grand, Connor Becnel, and Nathan Becnel. His great-grandchildren, Natalie Imbraguglio, Madison Imbraguglio, Alyssa Imbraguglio, and Aiden Miller. He is survived by one sister, Jeanette Ourso Rushing.

His family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare team and caregivers of Modern Hospice and About You In Home Care. The care and comfort they provided Sidney will be forever remembered.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024 from 9:00am until 11:30am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, LA 70454. Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00pm at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Albany, 30300 Catholic Hall Rd., Hammond, LA. Burial will immediately follow in Hungarian Presbyterian Cemetery, 30795 Hungarian Presbyterian Church Rd., Hammond, LA 70403.
