Shirley Robinson Tate, age 82, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. She was born on Friday, March 4, 1938, in Springfield, Louisiana, to James "Dick" Robinson and Orine Richardson Robinson. Shirley and her husband owned Tate’s Welding and Lawn Mower Service in Ponchatoula for 36 years. She was a lifelong member of the former Happywoods Church of God and now New Beginnings Christian Church. She enjoyed life and loved dancing (especially square dancing), her church, music, and gardening, but she especially loved spending time with her family.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Lynda Arlene Tate and Janet Dominguez and her husband Dale, her grandsons, Derick Steadman and his wife Kristie and Brenan Dominguez, her granddaughter, Brittany Dominguez, her great grandchildren, Mason Steadman, Maddox Steadman, Makenzie Steadman, Kamryn Bowles, Ava and Hunter Hils, and her sisters, Barbara Jenkins and her husband Gary "Skip", Charlotte Lawson, Debra "Debbie" Robinson and Maurine Joy King and her husband Robert "Rob", also many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, James "Dick" Robinson and Orine Richardson Robinson, her husband, Oda Tate, Jr., her grandson, Jason Steadman, and her brother, James “Jimmy” Robinson.

A Funeral Service Celebrating Shirley's Life will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, 11:00 am at Ponchatoula Cemetery in Ponchatoula. Bro. Millard Hutchinson will officiate.

The family would like to send a special thank you to North Oaks Medical Center and North Oaks Family Medicine for all for the compassion and care they shown to Shirley.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula.
