Shirley Braud Kyzar

Shirley Braud Kyzar, age 82, peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Baton Rouge to the late Dudley and Beulah Braud. She enjoyed music and dancing, doing cute crafts, and making beautiful flower arrangements. Shirley was known for her sweet compassionate personality and was always dressed to impress. She was often found in the kitchen making her famous seafood gumbo that will be sorely missed at family get togethers. Shirley was always seen holding one of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren, and loved spending her time with them making lasting memories that they will cherish forever. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and is already deeply missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeanine Connelley (David) and Kerry Kyzar (Shane McCrory); grandchildren, Khris Kyzar (Ashley), Wyatt Connelley (Hang Nguyen), Lindsey Connelley and Blake Rutland; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Kyzar, Kaden Kyzar, Kenzley Kyzar, Reece Albin, Elijah Connelley, and Lucas Connelley.

Preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Kyzar; parents, Dudley and Beulah Braud; in-laws, Fred and Ruby Kyzar.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. Pastor Gary Dennis will officiate the services with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Richard Murphy Hospice House.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Tahseen Rab for his many years of compassionate care.
