Shirley Ridgdell Culbreath

Shirley Ridgdell Culbreath, age 83, peacefully passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. She was proudly born on July 4th, 1941, to the late Pearl Harper Ridgdell Dunnington and Alonzo Ridgdell in Hammond, Louisiana. Shirley met her devoted husband, Larry Culbreath, at church as a child, they were later married on September 17, 1960, spending 64 beautiful years together. Her life was centered around God, family, and church. Shirley's greatest joy was spending time with her family and cooking delicious meals for them. Her church was her second home, where she enjoyed volunteering and fellowshipping with her church family. In her free time, she enjoyed watching the butterflies and hummingbirds flutter by as she was gardening and sewing together something beautiful for her family and friends. Shirley was known to be organized down to the final detail, even her funeral wishes were written line by line of how she wanted her final celebration to be handled. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who is already deeply missed.

She leaves behind her precious husband of 64 years, Larry Culbreath; daughters, Deanna Cummings (Britt), Tracy Smith (Stephen); grandchildren, Daltin Cummings (Brittany), Cole Cummings (Madison), and Courtney Smith (Jacob); great-grandchildren, Charlee, Evie, Jaxon and Hayden; siblings, Sonny Ridgell and Mona R. Bickham; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Huey Ridgdell; and her sister, Maxine R. Reid.

Family and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Shirley's Celebration of Life Service at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. Bro.
