Our mother, Shirley Lee Dietz, and the beloved wife of Raymond Dietz, passed away January 11, 2021. She was born on June 13, 1938, Husser, La.   Daughter of Theodore and Mary Lewis Lee.  Shirley was the fifth child of eight children and graduated from Loranger High School.  She was 82 years old and a resident of Ponchatoula, LA.  

Shirley Dietz was a school bus driver for the Tangipahoa Parish School Board.  She retired in 2009 after 30 years of dedicated service.  

Shirley was blessed with an abundance of friends and family.  She was well known for a deep passion to shop every weekend at multiple estate and garage sales.  Collecting clocks, raising peacocks and chickens was also her passion.  She enjoyed attending social events with her husband, especially if they had an opportunity to do a little old style dancing.

Shirley will dearly be remembered for her generous spirit to,as she would say, “Help a Fellor Out” and her famous quote, “I’ve got work to do!”.  She pridefully loved to be silly and joke around with her six grandchildren.

She is profoundly loved and missed by her husband of 62 years, Raymond A. Dietz, son; Reginald R. Dietz, daughters; Kimberly D. Murray(Terry) and Ramona Tara’ D. Umbach (Rickey). Grandchildren; Whitni D. Summerlin (Ty), Taylor Dietz, Kristen Murray, Ethan Murray, Ryan Umbach (Chelsea) and Seth Umbach (Natalie).  Also, four great grandchildren and one great grandchild expected in June.  A brother; Grady Lee (Deborra), sisters-in-law; Shirley M. Lee and Faye H. Lee and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; Theodore and Mary Lewis Lee; sisters; Barbara L. Sunseri (Louis) and Bertha L. Rainey(Dudley); brothers, Leslie (Geneva), Henry, Joseph and Dwight Lee.  Also, a cherished family friend, Rev. Elester Raines.  

Relatives and friends of the family will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, LA.  Monday, January 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00p.m.  Dr. David Cranford, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Ponchatoula, will conduct religious services beginning at 1:00p.m.  Interment will follow at Noah Cemetery,Uneedus, LA.
