Sheryl Ann Stewart, age 66, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. She was a beloved teacher who retired from Albany Schools Systems after 22 years of dedicated service shaping the minds of our youth. Teaching was more than just a job to Mrs. Sheryl, it was more of a calling, where she got to love on and spoil her classroom kids as much as she could. The love of teaching was passed down to her daughter, Christen, who is a teacher as well. She was known to keep her areas clean and tidy and enjoyed organizing. Mrs. Sheryl Ann was a God-fearing woman who read her bible every night before bed, and spent a lot of time volunteering at her church. When she wasn't at the school or at the church, she could often be found on her front porch, enjoying the fresh air, watching the red birds fly or making up silly songs to sing to her grandson, which he truly enjoyed. Above all else, she loved her family and was very proud of every accomplishment they earned.
She leaves behind her adoring husband of almost 49 years, Randy Stewart; children, Jeremy Stewart and Christen Stewart; precious grandson, Bryson Kent Stewart; mother, Mary Ann Stewart; siblings, Thomas Allen Stewart (Kim), Lannett Albin (Joel), Glenda Stewart; best friend since pre-k, Ida Mae Sessions; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding her in death was her father, Tom Kent Stewart; sister, Sylvia Darlene Stewart; and her grandparents, Tom and Myrtle Stilley Stewart, and Augustus McCarroll Bennett and George Bennett.
Family and friends are invited to Albany First Baptist Church on Monday, March 2, 2026, for her visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Eddie Koch will officiate the services with burial to follow in Old Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery on Hwy 442.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home.
