Sheryl Marie Harper

Sheryl Marie Sullivan-Harper passed away on November 23, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Sheryl was born on May 14, 1959, to Giselle and Philip Sullivan in Boston, Massachusetts. Her siblings were Kevin Sullivan, Tommy Sullivan, Janice Katz, Mark Sullivan, Maureen Sullivan, and Lee Ann Bruno.  In death, she is reunited with her mother Giselle Sullivan and her Godmother Barbara Sullivan.

Sheryl spent 64 wonderful years spreading love, joy, and sarcasm, to any and all around her. Her favorite past times included taking care of her animals and other people’s animals, being in her yard burning whatever she could find or mowing the dirt, sometimes even grass, and she could always be found spending quality time with her family and supporting her grandchildren in their life adventures.

At the age of 20, Sheryl moved to Louisiana, and it was there she met her future husband, Frank Harper. She and Frank would later marry on February 16, 1990. Little did she know this was the beginning of a large, sprawling family including son Frank Harper Jr. (wife Brittany Harper) (grandchildren Jaxon and Jakob Harper) and daughter Vanessa Harper Mitchell (husband Chris Mitchell) (grandchildren Jaylen, Giselle C’Driema, C’Mya and CJ Mitchell). She also extended her family to include the additional grandchildren and children who were embraced by her love from both St. Croix USVI and Louisiana.

Earlier in life, Sheryl enjoyed coaching a swim team in Christiansted, St. Croix USVI. Then, shortly after moving back to Louisiana she became a member of the Boxer Rescue Program. Sheryl would always stop and help or give a lending hand to others in need. She remained a beautiful, loving, strong, independent, and hardworking woman until the very end. Rest in peace our angel.  

Services will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Homes 2000 N Morrison Blvd, Hammond, La 70401 November 30, 2023, 11am-2pm. We do ask that the grandchildren be left to grieve and that their wishes be respected.
