Shelly Deynoodt, age 52, died peacefully in her parents home in Independence, LA on August 24, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.  

Shelly was born on July 18,1969 in Hammond, LA to Frank and Linda Nicolosi. She is a graduate of Independence High School and Southeastern Louisiana University. She was a school teacher of 21 years and taught over 600 children in the 1st and 3rd grades. She was an outstanding cheerleader and dancer at Southeastern Louisiana University.  She shared her passion through coaching cheer at Mary Queen of Peace and Mandeville Sports Complex. She was a dedicated member of the You Night Sisters, a support group for women who have had or are currently battling cancer.

Shelly is survived by her two loving children, Dylan and Courtney Deynoodt; Parents, Linda and Frank Nicolosi; Sister, Rhonda N. Bishop (Wayne Bishop); Nieces and nephews, Chelsea Tallo Little (Henry Lee Little), SPC Cole Tallo, Wayne Bishop Jr, Chelsea Bishop and Eleanor Dral; Significant other, Kyle Krieger; Former husband, Adrien Deynoodt; Aunts, Dorothy Flory and Angie Vicknair; Also many loving cousins.

Shelly enjoyed spending time with her family through game nights and watching Saints football. She loved spending time with her pets Suzy, Lucy and Breezy. Shelly was a wonderful caring person that lit up every room she entered. She especially loved caring and teaching children.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 2:30pm until 5pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd. Hammond, Louisiana 70401. A short funeral service will begin at 4:00PM on Saturday in the funeral home chapel.
