Shawn Michael Cronan

Shawn Michael Cronan, 58, of Ponchatoula, passed away at home, on September 19, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife of 34 years, Peggy and his daughter, Brittany. 

Born December 21, 1964 in New Orleans, he was the son of Herman Earl Cronan, Sr. and Hazel Angelina Cronan. He was the father of Brittany Cronan of Ponchatoula, Holly Cronan, who preceded him in death, and son, Russell Middleton (Christi).  He was the brother of Herman Earl Cronan, Jr. (Eugenie), Patricia Detiveaux, Michele Pitre, the late Susan Hendry, and Dawn Hebert (Phillip), as well as a host of family and friends.  He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Kahlen, Noah, Faith, David, Marina, Knox, Kamden, Mario, and Armani.

Mr. Cronan served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, and Louisiana Army National Guard, serving a total of approximately 13 and a half years.  He was honorably discharged from all 3 branches of service.  He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was especially passionate about educating and preventing military veteran suicide.  He was a member at large of the American Legion of Louisiana post 401 and the Helen Hooks Rownd VFW post 3652.  Shawn will be sorely missed by many patriots and veterans.  He was always willing to help his fellow man.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Shawn to the Helen Hooks Rownd VFW post 3652 Suicide Prevention and Resource Training Assistance(S.P.A.R.T.A.) program.

Pastor Randy Ray of the River Fellowship Baptist Church, where Shawn was an active member, will be conducting the service.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, September 23, 2023, beginning at 1:00 PM until the funeral service begins at 3:00 PM.
