Sharon Delaune McDonald

Sharon Delaune McDonald peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 62. She was born on Tuesday, May 14, 1963, in Hammond, Louisiana, to Thomas Delaune, Sr. and Elizabeth Annina Delaune. She was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.

Sharon never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcome right away. She was always trying to give you something, even if it wasn’t hers to give. And if she liked you, she’d pick on you just for fun. Sharon loved getting her hair and nails done. She also loved her family, country music, and dancing.

Sharon is survived by her brothers, Jeffrey Delaune and Thomas Delaune, Jr.; her sister, Ann Delaune; and niece, Ciara Ballard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bertus McDonald; parents, Thomas Delaune, Sr., and Elizabeth Annina Delaune; grandparents, Curtis Delaune, Eunice and Brit Prevost, Tony Annina, Josie and Nick Domiano; uncles, Elton “Coon” Douglas Bankston, and Paul Delaune, and aunt, Virgie Bankston

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at 9 am on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home - Hammond 2000 N. Morrison, Hammond, LA 70401, with a Graveside Service following at Gatlin Cemetery on Gatlin Cemetery Road, Hammond, Louisiana. 

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Sheila and Victoria from Wilkinson Caregiving, for all their love and support.
