Sandra "Sandy" Rockhold Mathis

Sandy peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at her home in Ponchatoula, Louisiana at the age of 79. She was born on September 8, 1942, in Pinebluff, Arkansas to the late Homer and Ila Mae Rockhold.  Sandy was a former owner of Pontchahoa Kennel in Husser, LA.  She enjoyed gardening and yardwork and running the family dog kennel with her husband and also loved to care for her own pets.  Later in life she enjoyed watching her favorite gameshows and rooting for the Saints and LSU's Joe Burrow.  Sandy was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She leaves behind her loving children, David Paul, Amy Champagne Scioneaux and husband Shane; step-children, Cynthia L. Mathis, Brett Mathis and wife Jeannie; daughters-in-law, Pamela Dawn Chambers Bankson, Gina Schiro Bankson-Woolley; grandchildren, Benjamin Bankson, Chloe Bankson, Sophia Bankson, Roman Bankson, Landon Scioneaux, Tyler Scioneaux; step-grandchildren, Michael Lewis, Devin Lewis, Sarah Mathis and Blake Mathis.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Ronald Charles Mathis; son, Kelly Lee Bankson; as well as her sisters, Dorothy Rockhold Baker and Nelda Rockhold Ezell.

Sandy's immediate family will hold a private memorial service as per her wishes at a later date.  There will not be a public visitation or memorial service.  To all those who knew her, the family thanks them for all the good memories.
