Sandra Odelia Pence

Sandra Odelia Pence passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, in Ponchatoula. Louisiana, at the age of 85. She was born on Saturday, July 8, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Evlinia Annabella Smith Labit and the late Edmond Jean Labit. She was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana. 

Sandra retired from Michoud, as a data entry clerk supervisor.

She was a devout Catholic, praying her Rosary everyday. Sandra ran track in the Junior Olympics. She was very passionate about teaching and inspiring children, she was a catechism teacher, also she was a coach at Rebel Park in St. Bernard.and later in life became a substitute teacher for Tangipahoa Parish School System. She will be remembered for her generous nature.

Sandra is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Evelyn Maher and James Sylvest; daughter & son-in-law, Penne Hebert and Barry Hebert; and son & daughter-in-law, and John P. Pence III and Cecilia Pence; grandchildren, Paul Maher III(Brooke), Errin Clark(Tyler), Renee Hebert(Matthew), Madeline "Maddie" Hood(Matson), Abigail "Abbey" Pence(Will), Jonathan Nguyen and Jenna Nguyen; great-grandchildren, Paul Maher IV, Tyler Clark, Jr., Claire Hebert, Chloe Maher, and Hayes Hood; former daughters-in-law, Jessica Pence and Jennie Pavalate; and friends, Virginia Aucoin and Joanne Brissett.

In addition to her parents, Sandra was also preceded in death by her husband, John "Phil" Pence II; sister, Judith Labit; and son-in-law, Paul Maher, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 600 North Oak Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, December 21, 2024, beginning at 9:00 AM until the funeral mass begins at 11:00 AM.

Interment will be on Saturday at 2:00p.m..at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, Chalmette, Louisiana.
