Salvador Joseph Allatto peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the age of 80. He was born in Independence, Louisiana on Wednesday, June 9, 1943, to the late Nace B. and Mattie L. Allatto. Sal proudly spent his time as an auto repair mechanic. Anyone who knew him could tell you that he was the best mechanic around, and he had a natural knack for it. He loved to share his mechanic stories with his family, and they were just as eager to hear them. When he wasn’t elbow-deep under the hood of a vehicle, he spent his time riding his Harley with his friends and family. Sal loved being able to spend time with his family, especially during the holidays when everyone would come together to cook, boil crawfish, and feast. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to those who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Sal is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Jack Parker; grandchildren, Tiffany Lanoux (Chris), Elizabeth Parker, and Joshua Parker; great-grandchild, Leon Lanoux, and siblings, Vince Allatto, Mary Ann Prevost, and Jennie Jordan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Sal was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Allatto; sisters, Mattia Allatto and Josie Allatto Major, and brother, Russell Allatto.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd. Hammond, LA, on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and Friday, April 5, 2024, from 10:00 am until the funeral service begins at 11:00 am.
