A Christian ceremony will be offered for Sallie K. Stewart on Saturday, June 29, 2024, with Rev. David Howie officiating. Burial will follow at the Sallie Starkey Kinchen Cemetery in Baptist under the direction of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond. 

The family requests that visitation be observed at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with services following.

Mrs. Stewart, age 80, of Baptist, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at North Oaks Medical Center. She was a retired Bookkeeper and Real Estate agent in Hammond, and a member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Holden. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by all. In her spare time, she loved to travel and visit with her friends and family. She loved traveling to Knoxville each year and driving through Cades Cove. Her favorite pastime was telling stories about memories she had made in the mountains. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Sally Starkey Kinchen; father and mother-in-law, Alfred and Wilma Stewart; sisters, Betty St. Cyr, Georgia Hernandez, Annie Ray Kinchen, Mary Bobbie Kinchen, and Gladys Kinchen; and brothers, John L. Kinchen, Roy Gatlin, Jr., Farley Ben Kinchen, and Leonard Jerry Kinchen. 

She is survived by husband of 62 years, Elmer G. Stewart; two children, Kay (Kevin) Coslan and Houston (Missy) Stewart of Baptist; 8 grandchildren, Rene (Todd) Troha, Mandi (Allan) Paille, Dalton Coslan, Tyler (Heather) Stewart, and Brooke Stewart, Johnathan (Nikki) Crowder, Josh (Kaci) Crowder, Alyssa (Tyler) Spellman; 8 great-grandchildren Addilyn and Braylee Troha, Kash and Kynzi Paille, Madelynn and Presley “Blue” Stewart, Nevaeh Coslan, and Brady Stewart, her brothers, Orlin “Shorty” Rogers, and J. Warren Kinchen; and sisters, Mickie Huszar, and Lucy Williams.
