Rufus Eugene Crayton, Jr.

Rufus Eugene Crayton, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 78.  He was born on Monday, February 22, 1943 in Baptist, Louisiana to the late Lillie Everett and the late Rufus Eugene Crayton, Sr.  He was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.

Rufus is survived by his children, Edward Crayton (Donna), David Crayton, Ronald Crayton, Melanie Niehaus, and Alicia Bishop (Paul); grandchildren, Devani, Laci, Scott, Matthew, Kristy, Zachary, Ethan, Corie, Chet, Sarah, and Kelli; great-grandchildren, Luke, Logen, Cassidy, Karmyn, and Camille; sisters, Dorthy Milton, Dorcas Perrin, Patricia Soape, Connie Crayton; brothers, Rona Crayton and Dennis Crayton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rufus was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Crayton; his sons, Jeffery Crayton and Donald Crayton; his great-granddaughter, Aubrey; his sister Laurie Sherman; and his brother Rubin Crayton.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Thursday, April 8, 2021 beginning at 9:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 11:00 AM.  

Interment will follow in Gatlin Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana.
