Ruby Marie Becnel Braun

Ruby Marie Becnel Braun was born September 30, 1926, in Vacherie, to the late Alexis Marie Becnel and Beatrice Smith Becnel.  She passed away at her home August 22, 2023, in Ponchatoula.  She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula.  During World War II she worked as a bullet riviter.  Afterwards, she was a co-owner of the family business, Braun’s Grocery and Liquor in Ponchatoula, a cashier of A & P Grocery for 26 years and worked at D.C. Reeves Elementary School.  She retired after working several years as a babysitter at Time Framed Photography.  Ruby is survived by her children, Mary Diane Braun Bankston, Robert Gerard Braun and Donna Marie Braun Townsend (Robert Edward); grandchildren, Lisa Kraemer Jackson (Kirk), Jason Robert Kraemer (Amanda Vela), Erin DePaula Kocak (Fatih), Kevin Robert Townsend (Kendra), and Robert “Rudy” Edward Townsend; great grandchildren, Kraemer Jackson (Haley), Kirsten Jackson, Kerrigan Jackson, Kennedy Jackson, Hunter Townsend and Ryder and Lincoln Kraemer; step great grandchildren, Kash and Kreek Mason, and Rayleigh, Brenlee, and Addilynn Church, and their mother, Page White; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Braun, daughter, Dale Frances Braun DePaula; grandson, Kyle William Dominguez; sister, Elsie Becnel Braun Everritt (Sonny); brother, Numa Alexis Becnel (Rita); son in law, James Martin Bankston, and a nephew, Raymond Braun.  Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 West Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Monday, August 28, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 am with a service at 10:15 am.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ponchatoula.  Interment will be in Ponchatoula Cemetery.  Special thanks to her caregiver and friend, Connie Aranyosi, her hairdresser, Sandra Wagner, and to Passages Hospice, especially Barry Bankston and Pastor Jerry.
