Roy Eugene Yent, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026 surrounded by the ones he loved most at the age of 74.
Known to many as ‘Wooley’, Roy carried a quiet strength and a kind heart that touched everyone who knew him. He spent his entire life working as a skilled mechanic, taking pride in fixing what was broken and helping others get back on the road. Gateway Ford was his home away from home for over 30 years, and all the people there were truly special to him. His hands were rarely still, and his work ethic was something he passed down through generations.
Outside of work, he found his greatest peace in the outdoors. Whether hunting at dawn or fishing until sunset, he cherished the simple beauty of nature. Those moments brought him joy, but nothing compared to the pride he felt watching his grandson, Jackson, play football and baseball. He was his biggest fan, never missing a chance to cheer him on silently from the sidelines. He also held a special place in his heart for his granddaughter, Madelyne, treasuring every moment of watching her grow into the amazing person she has become.
Roy was known for his stubbornness, a trait that, while strong, was deeply woven with love, loyalty, and determination. It was a part of him that family and friends came to know well and cherish, often bringing laughter, admiration, and even eye rolls. He carried his stubbornness with him all the way to end of his life.
He now joins the love of his life in heaven, Jackie, reunited once again after almost 20 years apart, a reunion that brings comfort to those who loved him.
Above all, Roy was a devoted family man. As a father, grandfather, and uncle he offered steady guidance, unconditional love, and a presence that made others feel safe and supported. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he gave so freely.
Preceded in death by his best friend, Jackie Yent, mother, Constance Yent ‘Jammaw’, father, William Yent and his brother, Michael Yent.
Leaves behind his daughter, Miracle Yent Aucoin, son, Jeffrey Paul Yent; grandchildren, Brandon, Kelsey, Madelyne, and Jackson; siblings, Lindon ‘Matthew’ Yent, Priscilla ‘Prissy’ Reno (Frank), and Kenny Yent; mumerous nieces and nephews; and daughter in spirit, Shanie Dickens.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
There will be a celebration of Roy's life held on Sunday April 19, 2026, at Harry McKneely And Son Funeral Home, 100 West Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., followed by the family sharing of a few memories of Roy, starting at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
