Roy Theron Yawn, Jr., of Springfield, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born on January 15, 1957, in Pensacola, Florida. Roy was a humble man with a big heart. His kindness and generosity left a profound impression on all who knew him. He is remembered as a great father, a loving husband, and a devoted Paw Paw to his grandchildren. Roy would stop everything to help family, friends, and strangers alike and he was the kind of friend anyone would want. Roy was a great mechanic with a passion for classic cars. He could fix anything and enjoyed a cold Miller Lite afterwards. It did not take much to make Roy happy but the happiness he made in the hearts of those he loved is beyond measure.
Roy is survived by his wife, Connie McKinney Yawn; sons, Christopher Yawn and Cody Yawn (Michelle); grandchildren, Caleb, Molly, and Sarah Yawn; sisters-in-law, Brenda Fontenot (Urban), Debra McKinney (Joe) and Gail Hamilton (Steve); nieces and nephews, Brian Daniel (Rebecca), Catherine Kysar, Melynda Chavez, Angelia Huszar (Danny), Jaime Rhodus (Loyd), Christina Causey (Hank), Stacy Pravata, Taylor Hamilton, and Gene Pravata, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Hart Yawn Holmes; father, Roy T. Yawn, Sr.; daughter, Ashley Nicole Yawn; brother, Curtiss Yawn; sister, Helen Kysar; stepfather, Q.D. Holmes; father and mother-in-law, Mart "Bud" and Ruthe McKinney; and sister-in-law, Linda Pravata (Gene).
Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm, with Brian Daniel officiating.
