Roy Dave Vedros, Sr. passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 63. He was born on Saturday, January 23, 1954 in Raceland, Louisiana to Cleveland and Gertrude Vedros. He was the owner of Hidden Oaks Campground, a firefighter, a Mason and a Shriner. Also, he was the founder of Hidden Oaks Swamp Pop Music Festival. He was a great father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who will be deeply missed.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Nita Tilton Vedros; sons, Rick Trahan and his wife Colleen, David Hickman, and Roy D. Vedros, Jr. and his wife Allison; daughters, Kristin Vedros, Jessica Bennett and her husband Ben, and Brittany Baham and her husband Jeremy; daughter-in-law, Laticia Mott; grandsons, Nicholas, Christian, Hunter, Joshua, Logan, Ryan, Jace, Ryder, Rex, Owen, and Baylor; granddaughters, Ashlyn, Karlee, Rhayne, Claire, Emmaleigh, Natalie, Annie, and Isabella; brothers, James Vedros and his wife Bertha; Jesse Vedros and his wife Veronica, Jackie Vedros and his wife Lelia, and Billy Vedros and his wife Julie; godsons, Joshua Zurita, Brad Vedros, and Dakota Musacchia; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Mott;and parents, Cleveland and Gertrude Vedros.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 from 9:00 am until the Funeral Service at 11:00 am.
