Rose Marie Drude Snellgrove, 88, of Ponchatoula, diedpeacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 3rd.Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond onMonday, November 8, 2021, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral massat Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 11:00 AM, followed by interment in PonchatoulaCemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter M. Drude, Jr., andKatherine (Schmidt) Drude, her brother Henry Drude, sister Dr. Kathleen AnnDrude, and her beloved husband Benjamin Elford Snellgrove.

Roseâs life was lived in loving service to others. Agraduate of Southeastern Louisiana University with advanced degrees in art andeducation, Rose began teaching in the 1950s, her career spanning over 40 yearsin both public and parochial schools. She shared her love of learning and ofart with children in kindergarten and the primary grades for 30 years in thePonchatoula public schools and for another 8 years at Holy Ghost CatholicSchool in Hammond. She retired from teaching in 1998. She often taught severalgenerations of the same family. Known for her love of children, Rose waspassionate about all types of art, her garden, and spending time with herfamily. She was a member of several local art clubs and the Gardenettes GardenClub of Ponchatoula for many years, and of Creative Minds Writers ofPonchatoula after retirement.
