Rose Pitarro Dorsa

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rose Pitarro Dorsa, age 95, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, who departed this life on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at The Phoenix in Hammond, LA.

She was born on March 6, 1929, in Hammond, to Sam and Mary Vicarise Pitarro. After marriage to Sam Dorsa on October 24,1948, she resided in New Orleans and Metairie for 73 years, where she held administrative secretarial positions at New Orleans City Hall, Delgado Community College, and the US Postal Service Downtown New Orleans office.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband Sam of 76 years; son, Jeff and wife Susan of Ringgold, GA; son, Brian and wife Tiffani of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren, Amanda Dorsa, Steven Dorsa, Autumn Rose Dorsa, and Kirsten Dorsa; six great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Emmett Dorsa, Madden, Marshall, Memphis, and Miles Reed.Also survived by sisters Josie DePaula of Denham Springs, Mary Grace Ferrara, Diane Correjolles, and brother, Pat Pitarro of Hammond.

Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am.

Interment will be at Rose Memorial Cemetery, Hammond.
