Ronald Leroy Sykes

Ronald Leroy Sykes, of Albany, Louisiana, passed away at North Oaks Medical Center on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on February 21, 1946, in Holden, Louisiana, the son of the late J.L. Sykes and Ruby Sistrunk Sykes. Ronald was a CPA in the community for 55 years.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 59 years, Brenda Cunningham Sykes; children, Kevin Sykes, Kasey Sykes, and Kori Sykes Lester (Brandon); granddaughters, Khloe and Kamryn Lester; brothers, Jesse Sykes (Beverly), Vernon Sykes (Lynn), and Leland Sykes (Lana); and nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Sykes.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 9:00 am until the Funeral Service begins 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at J.L. Sykes Family Cemetery on James Chapel Road in Holden, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Naquin, Ken Ross, Mark Perrilloux, Bubba Perrilloux, Dr. Jason Farrell, and Johnny Rayburn. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Alack, Sam Dileo, Dr. Ward Pevey, and Joey Frandria. 

A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. The moment that you died our hearts were torn in two, one side filled with heartache the other died with you. We often lie awake at night when the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane with tears upon our cheeks. Remembering you is easy, we do it every day, but missing you is a heartache that never goes away. We hold you tightly within our hearts, and there you will remain, until the joyous day arrives that we will meet again.
