Ronald Lee Johnson II passed away with his loving wife by his side on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 66. He was born on Sunday, March 8, 1959, in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Billie Jean Baker Miles and the late Ronald Lee Johnson, Sr. He was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
Ron was a 20-year US Army retiree, 1978-1998, and a Persian Gulf War Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm veteran who proudly served his country, honorably, while never forgetting the lessons life had taught him. He passed them on to his family, friends, and fellow soldiers. He was always willing to help his friends and family while expecting nothing in return from them. Upon retiring from the Army, he went to work with Butler Fleet Services, which years later changed contracts with AT&T to Amerit Fleet Services as an AT&T Fleet Mechanic for 27 years.
Ron is survived by his cherished wife of 29 years, whom he always referred to as his bride, Cynthia "Cindy" Burton Johnson, children, Ronald Lee Johnson III (Erin) of Lake Charles and Jessica Marie Clark (Joshua) of Ponchatoula, grandchildren, Aidan Johnson (squirt) and Angel Clark (princess); and siblings, Denise Johnson, Kellie Johnson, Amy Baker (Tim), Matt Miles (Amber), Mike Miles, and sister's in law, Kathy Burton and Carolyn Welch. Also, his friends at AT&T and Amerit, whom he always did everything he could to keep them safe on the road.
Cindy and the family would also like to extend a special thank you to Ron's friends who helped them through this difficult time, Steve Coats, Mark Gatlin, and Trent Cordray. Steve, thank you dearly for all your morning and night trips to help us with Ron. He loved you guys like brothers!
Also, an extra special thanks to Uncle Paul and Aunt Elaine Brunett who was by Cindy & Ron's side throughout his final battle. Thank you, Toni Flynn and Aunt Elaine, for driving to St. Tammany Hospital on Friday morning to be with Cindy at 3am so she would not be alone after his passing. Thank you also to Pat Holden for introducing us all those years ago and Tori Bauer for all your years of friendship. And I cannot forget who cared for our fur baby Gus, Heather Whittington, thank you. We love you all!
Thank you must also be extended to all the exceptional nurses and staff at Mary Byrd Perkins and St Tammany Parish Hospital oncology unit. You are all amazing!
Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Jean Baker Miles, father, Ronald Lee, Sr. and stepfather like a father, Frank Miles.
A private memorial and celebration of life will be held on a later date.
