Ronald “Ron” Parrish went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 9, 2025 after a brief illness. He was born on January 2, 1936 in Chicago, IL to Harvey & Thelma Parrish, and was raised by his maternal grandmother, Ida Hays.
At age 18, he enrolled in the U.S. Army and was based in New Orleans, LA. It was there in a Baptist church one Sunday that he met his future wife, Anita Patricia Jones.
Ron & Pat lived most of their lives together in Arabi, LA, where they raised their son, David. After Ron retired from Shell Oil Co. in Deer Park, Texas, he and Pat lived in Hammond, LA. After Pat passed away in 2018, Ron lived at Heartis Mid-Cities Senior Living Center in Bedford, TX, where he was known by all and served as the “Resident Game Ambassador”. He was a member of Cross City Church, where he sang in the choir.
His faith, family, friends and serving his country were most important to him. He gave back and helped others at every opportunity and enjoyed making and repairing all kinds of things.
Ron is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Anita Patricia Parrish, and his brother Tommy Parrish. He is survived by son David (Karen) Parrish of Southlake, TX, granddaughters Lauren (Andrew) Amaro and Lindy (Chris) Hunt, great-granddaughter Eleanor Amaro, and half-sister Eleanor “Ellie” Reagan.
A celebration of Ron’s life for family and friends will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, LA on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Services will be at 11:00 am, preceded by visitation 9:30am-11:00 am. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Foundation at www.heart.org.
