Ronald George Ciresi, 85, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, devoted husband and father, passed away Wednesday, March 27th, 2024.

Born May 6th, 1938, the son of Ernest and Evelyn Ciresi, Ron grew up in Chicago, Illinois and Redwood City, California.  

At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Navy, serving for 20 years, achieving the rank of First Class SK1. He served our country proudly in Vietnam, ending his deployment with being awarded the Purple Heart.

In 1960 he met Ouida Fay Sticker, who was also serving her country in the US Navy. He and Fay would go on to have three children; Veronica, Garrett and Eva. He supported his family endlessly and taught them to stand tall, be proud, and true to themselves in all situations.

He was well known in communities across all Southeast Louisiana for his dedication to his community.  He was never shy to step up to the plate when something needed to be done.  He was a volunteer firefighter and one of the original members who started the first 8th Ward Volunteer Fire Department in Robert, Louisiana.  He worked for the State of Louisiana at the Office of Motor Vehicle where he retired after 20 years; also serving in the Tangipahoa Sheriff's Department and Ponchatoula Police Department.  Along with his numerous accomplishments he served as Commander of Post 47 American Legion Ponchatoula for many years. He was also a member of the Lions Club in Ponchatoula and a proud member of the Department of Louisiana Military Order of the Purple Heart. 

Ron is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Evelyn Ciresi, his wife of 47 years Ouida Fay Sticker Ciresi, his brother Edwin Ciresi and great-granddaughter Sydney Ciresi.

He is survived by his children, Veronica Ciresi, Garrett (Stephanie) Ciresi, and Eva (Brian) Ciresi Dupuis. His grandchildren, Zachary Smith, Jordan Smith-Kenning, Dalton Smith, Ryan Ciresi, Madison Ciresi, Kamryn Ciresi, Shelby Zansler Robinson, and Nyla Dupuis. His Great Grandchildren, Ayden Smith, Mason Smith, Atticus Kenning, Henry Smith, Riley Ciresi, Carson Ciresi, Landon Ciresi, Baby Garrett Ciresi, Charlotte Perise, and Eleanor Robinson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, LA on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 9:00 am until the funeral service begins at 10:00 am.   

Interment will follow at Sticker Cemetery in Bedico, Louisiana.
