Rodger Neal Reitz, age 63, of Independence, Louisiana, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 29, 2020. He was born on Saturday, May 4, 1957, in Douglasville, Georgia, to Rev. Joseph Charles Reitz and Dorothy Kathleen Ergle Reitz. Rodger was a Direct Support Professional with TARC and loved working there. He had multiple clients who loved him because he was such an amazing caregiver. In the past year Rodger was awarded D.S.P. Of the Year. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Rodger had a huge heart for helping anyone in need, but also was quite the prankster. He never went anywhere without his sidekick James Ergle. Rodger enjoyed life and loved cooking, working and family gatherings.

Rodger is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia "Pat" Hodges Reitz, his daughters, Wendy Lea and her husband Matthew and Vanessa Schwertz and her husband Robert, his grandsons, Aaron Lea and Adam Lea, his brothers, Mark Reitz and his wife Jeanie, Bryan Reitz and his wife Brenda and Timothy "Tim" Reitz and his wife Kim, also many nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Joseph Charles Reitz and Dorothy Kathleen Ergle Reitz.

A Visitation for Rodger will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service Celebrating Rodger's Life will immediately follow visitation at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Blood River Baptist Church Cemetery in Albany.

Face masks are now mandatory to attend any visitation or service at the funeral home. Thank you for your cooperation.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to TARC of Hammond, 408 North Cypress Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70403 in Rodger's memory.
